Quilt in Progress

It’s a gloomy sort of day here in Albuquerque, perfect for sewing!  Actually, we had a major downpour yesterday that was heaven sent and much appreciated!

I just finished putting on the outer, plain border on my newest design.  Here’s where I need your help, or at least your opinion!

Quilt in Progress

It currently measures 66″ x 75″.  Do you think it needs one more border to be complete?  If so, what would you recommend as the outermost border?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Very nice! Maybe just a binding, a little wider than normal. Could be pieced with the colors used in the prairie points, so the color changes around the edge. Maybe with round corners, like your point section. Maybe a piping/flange edge of the prairie point colors and the dark purple for the binding.

  2. Wow, this is beautiful! If it were my quilt, I think I’d add one more border, probably in orange. Either way, it’s stunning.

Another winner, Gail. It glows. I think another border would take away from the way the points radiate light outward. It would limit it. I would also bind it in the purple–I might make the edge wavy like the design.

  4. Beautiful quilt!! I like the idea of maybe rounding the corners to follow your spiked border and adding piping in the yellow/oranges followed by purple binding. I probably wouldn’t add a border – I would add some applique in the dark purple already in the border. I would add some butterflies to bring them out to the border – maybe on two opposing corners.
