A common figure in Pueblo Indian pottery figurines. Their eyes are closed because they are thinking as they sing to their children. These and other Indian effigies are believed by their makers to acquire a conscious existence as they are created. This may be one of the reasons they hold a special place in the hearts of so many New Mexicans, as well as people worldwide. Hand appliquéd and hand quilted.
